Leoni Township in partnership with the Michigan Rural Water Association is forming a voluntary committee to establish a wellhead protection program to protect our drinking water. To serve on this committee beginning in March, you will be required to attend 1 meeting a month for the first three months (March, April and May) and then 1 meeting every six months thereafter. Meetings will last approximately 1 hour and will be held at the Township Hall. If you are interested in serving your community as a board member contact the Township office at 764-4694 or Kevin Lawrence at 517- 937- 3509.

Leoni Township Water System and Wasterwater Treatment Plant Information

 

Well Information:

Leoni Township has a total of five (5) different wells located in three (3) different locations. The combined pumping capacity is 3.0 million gallons a day.  Township is also responsible for operation and maintenance of Napoleon Township’s water system.


Water Main Information:

Leoni Township currently has 40 miles of water main.


Water Tower Information:

Leoni Township has one centrally located 1,000,000-gallon storage tank.


Wastewater Plant Information:

  • 2.6 MGD Capacity
  • Type of Plant:  Aerated Lagoon System with 7-cells, 4 cells aerated, 2 cells for settling and 1 cell as tertiary.
  • Class of Plant:  Class B Treatment Plant
  • Average Influent Flow:  1.8 MGD
  • Lab testing done in house:  BOD, Phosphorus, Ammonia Nitrogen, D.O., ph, TSS, Chlorine and Fecal Coliform
